2012-01-28  Unpopular Plans to Go Ahead

Planning applications for five wind turbines at Micklefield and 68 houses at Garforth Cliff were presented at the city council’s Plans Panel East meeting on Thursday. Both applications were recommended for approval following the successful appeal by the turbine builders and the revisions submitted by the house builders.  

 

2011-12-31  Cannabis Farm in Micklefield

On 12th December the local Garforth NPT executed a drugs warrant in Micklefield which uncovered a cannabis farm and resulted in a large amount of cannabis being recovered. Two people were arrested and all drugs and equipment were destroyed.  

 

2011-12-11  Micklefield Wind Farm Gets Go Ahead

Plans for a controversial wind farm at Micklefield have been approved by a Government Inspector following an appeal by Banks Renewables. Banks claim the five 390 foot wind turbines will provide energy for over eight thousand homes. The ruling imposed a 25 year lifespan for the turbines. Local protesters said they were extremely disappointed with the decision.

2011-11-28  Musical Director Required

Micklefield Male Voice Choir requires a Musical Director after Christmas as their current MD is leaving to return home after gaining a Doctorate in Music at the University of Leeds. 2011-10-13  Wind Farm Enquiry Progresses

The latest public enquiry over the proposed wind farm at Micklefield is taking place at Leeds Civic Hall. If the six year battle is lost the 400 foot high turbines will be erected within 18 months.  

 

2011-10-10  Micklefield Tenants AGM

Micklefield Tenants and Residents Association meet for their AGM at Churchville House on 10th October at 6.30pm. Association meetings are held every other month  

 

2011-10-05  Hook Moor WindFarm Appeal Imminent

After being rejected twice the developer of the proposed wind farm at Hook Moor has appealed again and the Public Inquiry will last two days starting 11th October.  

 

2011-08-27  Micklefield Playground Plan

Micklefield Parish Council has applied for planning permission for a new playground, footpaths, fencing and landscaping at Micklefield Recreation Ground  

 

2011-06-27  New Wind Farm Inquiry Planned

A new public enquiry is expected in August regarding the proposed wind farm at Hook Moor, Micklefield.
